Black Rock home damaged in two-alarm fire

Firefighters responded to a fire at this home on Lake Avenue on Wednesday morning.

A two-alarm fire heavily damaged a Black Rock house Wednesday morning.

Firefighters encountered a large volume of smoke when they arrived at 310 Lake Ave. As they arrived, firefighters on Engine 7 reported an 8- to 10-foot column of fire already coming through the roof.

“Considering the volume of fire, the guys did a heck of a job stopping the fire,” Battalion Chief Ivan Fossesigurani said.

The house, which according to land records was built in 1929, did sustain heavy fire damage.

Six engines companies and three ladder trucks responded.

No one was home at the time of the fire and there were no reported injuries.
