Police investigate housing complex homicide

Bridgeport police are investigating a fatal shooting Sunday in the P.T. Barnum housing complex.

Police responded to the complex at 12:49 p.m. on a report of shots fired and a possible victim on the ground near Building 11.

Officers found Marquis Jacobs, 36, of Bridgeport suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to St. Vincent’s Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Detectives are pursuing leads. Jacobs was the sixth homicide of 2013.

The Bridgeport Police Department Detective Division has begun a homicide investigation and is in the process of determining a motive for the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to contact Lt. Chris Lamaine at 203-581-5206. All information will be kept confidential. The victim has a prior criminal history with the department.

The department also looking for information on the shooting of the teenager last night in the area of Ezra Street. Police have yet to release the name of the victim, who is in stable condition at St. Vincent’s.
