St. Vincent’s Medical Center announces that Antonela Barbu, MD, has joined its newest primary care practice: Fairfield Medicine at Black Rock Turnpike. Located at 2238 Black Rock Turnpike, this new location is St. Vincent’s third primary care practice in Fairfield. Dr. Barbu currently is welcoming new patients.

“The addition of Fairfield Medicine at Black Rock Turnpike helps provide even more convenient health care options to families in the area,” said Frank Scifo, MD, chief medical officer, St. Vincent’s MultiSpecialty Group. “Dr. Barbu’s experience and expertise in family practice and primary care will serve the community well.”

Dr. Barbu has been treating patients in Connecticut since 2011, both as a family practice physician and as a primary care physician. She completed her residency in primary care and obstetrics-gynecology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences SA. Dr. Barbu received her MD from Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania. She is a member of both the American Medical Association (AMA) and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP).

“I truly enjoy primary care medicine, as it allows me to establish a strong rapport with my patients,” said Dr. Barbu. “From helping patients take preventative measures that are best suited to their medical and family history, to educating and informing patients and their families about treatment options — it comes down to trust. I look forward to earning my patients’ trust and creating bonds that can last a lifetime.”
