Five arrested after police chase stolen car used in armed robbery through town

Police chased a stolen car that was used in an armed robbery through Bridgeport and Trumbull before making the stop on Route 25.

Trumbull police arrested five people yesterday after an alleged car theft in New Canaan and armed robbery in Bridgeport.

According to police, the vehicle in question was stolen from New Canaan, then used in an armed robbery on Orchard Street in Bridgeport, where the occupants displayed a handgun.

Later, one of the occupants walked past a car parked at the Westfield mall where a female was sitting on her break. The male reached in and took a bag, and the car then fled, nearly colliding with the vehicle of off-duty Trumbull officer James Leos, who called in the incident.

K9 Officer Gregory Lee and partner Storm located the vehicle traveling southbound on Main Street. The pursuit traveled through Bridgeport and back onto Route 25 northbound before ending on Route 25 in Trumbull. Five occupants of the vehicle are in custody.
