LETTER: The Progress is Real

To the Editor:

This mayoral election seems to be getting a lot of attention from the media. I just hope that voters are paying attention too.

Mayor Bill Finch’s efforts over the past eight years are really paying off. This week you can attend a job fair and apply for a job at the state’s first Bass Pro Shops and the first Starbucks and Chipotle in Bridgeport.

This week, through Wednesday, these new Steel Point businesses are holding a job fair at the Klein Auditorium from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

After more than 30 years, six different mayor’s, corruption, neglect, and lies, Bridgeport’s Steel Point development is really happening.

This was made possible in the eight years Mayor Finch has held office, while Joe Ganim had 12 years in office to make it happen, but failed.

It’s unconscionable to think that it took as long as it did to develop this prime real estate on Bridgeport’s waterfront, but because of Mayor Bill Finch, Steel Point is being developed, Pleasure Beach is re-open, new schools are being built, new parks are being thus raising property values for people’s homes, and Bridgeport continues to go in the right direction.

The progress in Bridgeport, in the words of Smokey Robinson is “Really really, real.”
