Trifitness of Fairfield hosted its first mini triathlon at the Weston Middle School pool on July 4. More than 100 participants,
ranging in ages from 4 to 50, swim, biked and ran to the finish line.
For many of these young athletes, this race was their first triathlon and an opportunity to learn more about this rapidly growing sport.
A portion of the proceeds went to support the Mother and Child Literacy Program of Caroline House in Bridgeport.
Trifitness of Fairfield was founded in 2001 by Paul and Pascale Butcher. Trifitness has a reputation as one of Connecticut’s leading multi-sport companies, having created a number of popular events, including the Health Net Triathlon and Trifitness Triathlon in Fairfield. They have coached hundreds of students in swimming, biking and running.
“I decided to sponsor Caroline House because I applaud the work they are doing in Bridgeport,” Pascale Butcher said. “Trifitness is happy to help the mothers and children of Caroline House in their pursuit of the English language.”
Trifitness is currently getting ready to host a womens-only triathlon and duathlon at Shady Beach in Norwalk on Aug. 18.
