Bridgeport man shot in back, ankle

Police have identified the man shot in Marina Village Sunday afternoon as 21-year-old Samuel McAllister of Bridgeport. He was found near Building 17 in the Marina Village public housing complex.

Bridgeport 911 dispatchers received a call at 3:13 p.m. of shots fired at Johnson Street and Park Avenue. The area was crowded because of the Puerto Rican Day Parade. Patrol units responded, as well as members of the Emergency Service Unit.

McAllister was taken to Bridgeport Hospital by AMR. He received a wound to his back and right ankle from a ricochet bullet. His condition is listed as stable.

McAllister told police he was walking north on Park Avenue near Marina Village when he heard approximately eight shots. He said he ran and ended up at Building 17, where he saw police units. McAllister said he did not see who shot him and stated he did not have any arguments with anyone.

Ballistic evidence was recovered at the scene.
