Furniture store donates money Bridgeport school

Bob’s Discount Furniture has announced that it will donate funds to seven schools in Connecticut, including one in Bridgeport, in support of arts and education programs. These funds are made possible by customer donations to collection jars located in the cafes found in every Bob’s store, which offer free refreshments, including gourmet coffee and cookies, to all Bob’s shoppers.

The Luis Muñoz Marin School will be among those receiving a $1,000 check this month.

“Bob’s values the community support we receive at all of our locations, and we are committed to helping enhance education and arts programs in these areas by encouraging donations and distributing money to worthy schools and community organizations,” said Cathy Poulin, public relations director, Bob’s Discount Furniture. “In June, we’re supporting several schools in Connecticut, and we look forward to helping out schools in neighboring states as the year goes on.”

Every month, Bob’s randomly selects seven schools in the communities near its stores and makes a donation of $1,000 to each one. This month, Bob’s Discount Furniture is supporting education and arts programs in Connecticut with the cash awards.

Bob’s has donated money to hundreds of schools over the past 20 years. Previous recipients have used the donations for such things as purchasing new art and classroom supplies, funding student activity groups and going on field trips.
