Police respond to morning robbery

A store owner was shot Tuesday morning, Feb. 19, in the third armed holdup since Friday on East Main Street.

Felix Reyes, 65, owner of East Side Sport, 959 East Main St., was rushed to the hospital with what police called non-life threatening injuries after being shot once shortly after 10 a.m.

Police said the incident appears to be an attempted robbery gone bad. Detectives were processing the scene and surrounding area around 11:30 a.m.

The store that was robbed is located directly next to the Bank of America branch, where a man was arrested after robbing the bank on Feb. 15.

Later that day, an armed robbery was reported at the Subway Restaurant at the corner of East Main Street and Boston Avenue.
